For the soundtrack to his first Hollywood film, THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, director Gabriele Muccino enlisted accomplished composer, and fellow Italian, Andrea Guerra to create a score for the poignant movie, which focuses on a down-on-his-luck father (Will Smith) struggling to make a better life for his son and himself. Guerra's atmospheric pieces, gilded with prominent percussion and swelling horn lines, expertly echo the film's up and downs, particularly on the gentle, expressive "Opening."
