The five early shorts collected here feature work by the classic comedy duo of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, dating from before their pairing by the Hal Roach Studio. Chock-full of nonstop antics, their timeless humor and enduring charm are already fully apparent. In THE HOME WRECKER, the recently discharged Smithy (Laurel) goes to work on a construction site, and is mistakenly appointed as foreman. He causes a great deal of chaos, but manages to get the job done--sort of. THE FOUR WHEELED TERROR pits Hardy against the Speed Kid as they race for the attentions of a beautiful girl, while in ROUGHEST AFRICA Stan encounters all manner of wildlife while trekking through Africa. In CRAZY TO ACT, Hardy courts an aspiring actress by promising her fame and fortune, while in THE PAPER HANGER'S HELPER, Hardy and his helper answer the emergency call of a sanatorium.
