Brideshead Revisited

Though not nearly as comprehensive as the beloved, 11-hour BBC drama, this glossy, economical adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's popular 1945 novel does manage to tell the entire tale of Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode), an impressionable young Englishman who is seduced by his teddy-bear toting schoolmate's great wealth, aristocratic family and enormous manor home. Emma Thompson is smashing as the lady of the house. Ben Whishaw, Hayley Atwell.
